Echoing Seeds - Central America

Echoing Seeds is a year long international program bringing together 18 to 25 year olds from first and third world countries. Through learning about organic farming, indigenous building, language, and philanthropic work students will not only learn about themselves but will be empowered and required to create a project that adds value to their community or the community in which the school resides. For more information please check out the video by Matthew Abrams, the founder of Echoing Seeds at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcCHfO7mWkg

Through Echoing Seeds youth from around the world will come together to dialogue about the future of Earth and their unique role in bringing this vision to fruition. If you would like to donate to this great project please e-mail DONATIONS

Currently, Living Education and Echoing Seeds is moving through a  strategic planning process to ensure the school’s foundation is viable, sustainable, unique, congruent, and creative.

Vision Network Schools - Paonia, Colorado

Vision Home and Community and Lamborn Vision School are both public schools in Delta County Colorado and are part of the innovative Vision Coalition. The Vision Coalition was founded in 2000 as a way to give meaningful public school choices to communities. Communities in Delta County were able to start public schools that had their own unique structure and philosophy. In North Fork, three schools were created. A Montessori school, a farm school, and the Vision Home and Community School (a resource center for homeschoolers). Each student participates in the Colorado Student Assessment Program (CSAP) but each school can create their own curriculum and pedagogical philosophy. These schools are place grown - relevant and meaningful to the students and families of the area.

Living Education, LLC, Vision Home and Community and Lamborn Vision School have begun a strategic thinking and planning initiative. Through this series the schools are working together to uncover their unique essences and vocations so that they can collaboratively work together to offer the North Fork Valley area meaningful educational choices. This includes incorporating the philosophy into the learning experiences, the structure and systems of the organization of the school and the relationships the school has with the larger community. The following article on Vision Home and Community was published in Education Revolution: The Magazine of Educational Alternatives Fall 2008: Vision Home and Community in AERO.pdf

Our hope is that through this work the Vision Coalition of North Fork can be a national model for an alternative educational structure. If you would like to give a tax-free donation to this project please e-mail  DONATIONS

Recently, Living Education, LLC collaborated with Earth Care to offer teachers in Santa Fe and Albuquerque an introduction to “education as sustainability.” The Earth Care International’s Summer Sustainability Teacher Institute is a three-year process to enable teachers to move from teaching sustainable practices as an “add-on” topic to integrating sustainability throughout the school system. Living Education played an integral role in understanding how this transformation to a whole systems change agent “mind” occurs overtime and how to integrate and enable such transformations in the teachers.  The following article was published in Earth Care’s Sustainability Guide 2008: Earth Care Teacher Institute in Sustainability Education.pdf
